Search and rescue organizations can apply for funding for projects that improve search and rescue response or prevention and align with national priorities, such as training programs, equipment purchases, R&D projects, prevention or awareness campaigns, or multijurisdictional exercises.
The national SAR program refers to the collective activities of governmental and non-governmental organizations in Canada having a primary or supporting role in the delivery of search and rescue response or prevention.
The program’s goal is a Canada where the critical importance of search and rescue is reflected in a multi-jurisdictional approach to promoting individual, collective and organizational behaviors that minimize the risk of injury or loss of life while maintaining timely and effective response services.
Eligibility:
Provincial and territorial governments, for-profit and not-for-profit Canadian organizations and volunteer associations, and academia can be eligible recipients for SAR NIF funding.
